SSD vs CSS

If a Super Star Destroyer was pitted up against a Covenant Supercarrier and they fought in an epic battle, who would come out victorious?

My vote goes toward the Super Star Destroyer

Theoretical cross-franchise combat is silly. Apples and Oranges, mate.

Yep, Hebes is right, besides different sci-fi series have different rules, there is a ton of technobabble to go through in order to find a common ground in (fictional) physics and define which one is more powerful and efficient.

Covenant Supercarriers are quite gigantic though, so I guess they could win by simply ramming the thing, physics be darned.

Nah, I don't have any pics but you can read up in wikipedia. They both seem to be equal in length (I think the Super Star Destroyer is longer, though).

Here's for the SSD:

Covenant Supercarrier:

Can you warp the middle of an SSD to a different galaxy?

Covenant Supercarrier:

Blatant contradiction in that statement aside, the length of the Halo ship is much greater according to the information in the wiki articles:

SSD: 3.8 - 19km
Covenant Supercarrier: ~27km

I think the SSD would win, its got better maneuverability thanks to its size, and doesn't the CSS have a fixed cannon on the front? 1 or 2 hits from that cannon would probably eat through the SSD's shields, butt he SSD could probably out maneuver it.

This would require me to be both a star wars and halo geek. :faint:

I personally think the Supercarrier would win, due to the fact that they have a few significant structural advantages. While a normal Star Destroyer doesn't, an SSD practially has a city on the top, and the bridge is just jutting straight out, not to mention it isn't quite as thick. A Supercarrier, however, is a solid blob all the way through, with no bridge or city to speak of.

Hmm, both vessels are considered super, but one is a destroyer and the other a carrier... the former is the taker of life and the latter the giver of life... so logically, doesn't that mean the destroyer wins? :? :cpu:

I think that statement Wins :P

I concur :plokoon:

I see no flaws in that logic

Hence why ramming other ships seems like a perfectly reasonable strategy to me, in this case. :P

I was picturing that when I posted that. I mean, an SSD can't be more than a kilometer or so thick if it's 19 long, but a Supercarrier has got to be at least 3 or 4km thick, and it's much sturdier. Not to mention the Covenant would so ram another ship if necessary.

So...the CSS has got reach while the SSD's got flexibility?

Hidden/Spoiler:
pun found XD
id have to go with the CSC seems like its weapons systems are more powerful
also its profile looks harder to hit than the SSD

At 29 km I think "difficult to hit" is a bit of an oxymoron...

Also it'd be a tie.

it depends in wich class of SSD it was, there were many classes, the executor class, the sobereign class, the eclipse class...
