BFI Hoth for the Conversion Pack

Hello everyone. I had recently and successfully converted the BFI version of Hoth for Battlefront II. I've ask Mav if he could add it to the 2.1 patch for the Pack but the answer was no because there weren't any significant differences between the two versions. Plus he wants to keep the download size for the patch small. Now for those us who have played the BFI version of Hoth, there were differences, right? Of course.
List of differences:
- There was an extra CP located between the bunker CP and the hanger CP
- The tunnel connecting the bunker and hanger had a different layout
- The Hoth and dish turrets functioned differently from their BF2 counterparts
- There was a tunnel system that starts at the outpost CP and ends near the shield generator (orbital strike droid, anyone?)
Combine all these differences with the Classic Conquest sides and you have BFI Hoth for BFII.
Screen shots:
Check out the poll.

I think I'll agree with Mav. I don't see any difference.

Wow, I had forgotten about the different tunnels. I miss that.
How much would this add to any patch?
10-20 MB? More?

I HAVE noticed those differences, but i don't think it is worth putting it in the patch. I'd release it on FF, though, it might be interesting to have.

That's probably about all it would add, size-wise. There are a lot of "little" things I
could add that would only be 10 MB here or there, but those add up. Right now, the patch is about 130-150 MB uncompressed (47 MB compressed) and I think that's right about where I want to keep it.
What my suggestion remains is that Hoth (BF1) could be released as a separate download, although I would open up anything the Pack has to AQT so that he could give it classic conquest and whatever else. I'd also be willing to host it over at ModDB alongside the Pack.
The 2.1 patch isn't designed to add anything to the Pack - that is essentially done. You can see in this list here that the only thing really being added is the V-Wing, and that's only because Teancum specifically requested it:
Fixes:
Bossk First-Person View
Nien Nunb First-Persion View
Prince Xizor First-Person View
Bossk Concussion Rifle Fire/Explosion sound
Kit Fisto’s shadow
Kit Fisto’s combo tweaked (to allow for easier use of “secondary” melee combo)
Cloud Car collision
Floating HUD icons in Felucia Hunt (KotOR)
Missing KotOR heroes in:
-Rhen Var: Harbor
-Geonosis: Spire
-Raxus Prime
Points imbalance in Utapau Hunt
Broken Naboo Hero Assault
Sounds Naboo Hero Assault
Lowbacca crash-to-desktop on Endar Spire
Mara Jade crash-to-desktop on Naboo: Plains
Missing tur.lvl for Space Endor
Missing turrets for Rhen Var: Harbor and Citadel (KotOR)
Offline stability improvements (reduced mode count, cleaned mission.lvl)
Additions:
Updated components to the 1.3 patch added (courtesy [RDH]Zerted)
-please see the full 1.3 Patch documentation (available at StarWarsBattlefrontFiles.com) to see the list of changes)
Particle effects added to Kit Fisto’s Force Bubble
New lightsaber hilt for Kit Fisto
New force wave effect (CW and GCW)
New lightsaber hilts for Asajj Ventress
Correct explosion chunks added for B-Wing, V-19 Torrent
V-Wing airspeeder added to Concord Dawn and Haruun Kal (GCW)
Kit Fisto added as hero on Methlyn

Eh, I'll do it. I have no issues converting it if you want to wait. I forgot about that and I think it's worthwhile.

It's not about the time taken, it's about the size added. AQT has already done all the converting work; I figure just making sure it's offered as an additional download everywhere the Pack is is good enough - that way those that want it can get it, but those that don't won't have to worry about the additional size.

I realize that we don't want to add everything under the sun, but I'd say this is a pretty important update, considering it is the SWBF1 Conversion Pack. If the conversion is done and it's only 10mb why aren't we including it? We're including saber hilts which won't ever be seen unless you're doing hi-res screenshots (I'm fine with this, by the way) yet we don't add the SWBF1 variant of a map that the conversion pack was based on? Truthfully this is like we were planning on doing with Naboo -- the daytime appears only in SWBF1 mode.

I guess we can add it; it'll add some more time to get done and test, obviously. Send it over whenever you're done, AQT - don't worry about sides stuff, just make sure everything packed into the world itself works fine (if you want SWBF1-style turrets, I would advise adding those to the world and not rely on loading them from the sides).

i think you can see them when you play, in my opinion it adds a lot more atmosphere if everybody has his own saber and not 18 polygon lowres saber even you dont see the details on them

I don't think its worth converting and/or adding it to the SWBF Conversion Pack. I've played the SWBF1 Hoth map and the differences are very minor. I think it wouldn't really be played much and to much addon maps clog up the Instant Action list.

The way I'm setting it up is going to be such that the only "extra" thing it takes up is space on your computer. It's not going to be a separate addon map, it'll just be the world loaded when you choose to play Classic Conquest on the stock Hoth. (Similar to, as Tean mentioned above, the way I set up stock Naboo to play SWBF1 Naboo for Classic Conquest).

Ah, than if it isn't counted as a new map and if it doesn't take up that much disk space than I'm fine with it. (psst: With the patch you should convert the SWBF1 Campaign scripts).

SWBF1 didn't really have a campaign. As I recall you could win in any a campaign level in any way you wanted, even when you were asked to complete objectives.

i liked the original hoth as it was bigger because of that extra tunnel so i would download it

Is the new Convo Pack sides used for other BF1 maps going to be used in this map?
